Certificate of Citizenship, again

RE: Camp Hill district judge calls immigration on two couples getting married

Friends have posted this elsewhere, but I’m also posting because it’s so very important. A young man, Alexander Curtis Parker, was born in Guatemala and adopted by an American family at 8 months old. Now 21, Parker showed up at a Pennsylvania courthouse with his fiancé, to go before a judge to get married. The judge asked Parker for proof of citizenship. (Presumably because Parker’s skin is brown and he looks like someone born in Guatemala.) Parker explained he’s a Permanent Resident with a green card that’s in process of being renewed. Technically, though, at that moment, Parker was “undocumented” with his green-card status in process.

ICE was called. Parker was fingerprinted. On his wedding day. The miracle of the story is that ICE backed-off. Read the article for details.

Friends: Don’t let this happen to your Guatemalan-born child or children! If you do nothing else today, make sure you possess a Certificate of Citizenship for your kids. A Certificate of Citizenship never expires and is the only absolute proof of citizenship.

Thank you. The end.

Certificate of Citizenship

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

Certificate of Citizenship, again. The fee doubles on December 23, from $550 to $1,170. The National Council for Adoption has provided a video and PDF with FAQs. Yes, ten days before Christmas is not a convenient time of year to deal with this, but it’s got to be done!

I’m sure you’ve already has secured a COC for your child, but I’m posting the link so I can find it myself in the future. Because someday soon someone will email me with the subject line: Help!

Adam Crapser update and COC

Thursday, October 27th, 2016

Update on the case of Adam Crapser, the 40-year-old man adopted from South Korea to the US at age three and facing deportation. The attorney representing Crapser, Lori Walls, told NBC Nightly News that this week an immigration judge ruled against Crapser, and his deportation is imminent. Said Walls: “He was eligible for a discretionary form of relief called ‘cancellation of removal,’ and the immigration judge decided he did not deserve this relief…He will be deported as soon as Immigration and Customs Enforcement makes the necessary arrangements.”

As you recall, Adam Crapser was convicted of a felony, and because he does not possess a Certificate of Citizenship–his adoptive parents never applied for one–Crapser is not legally a US citizen.

I’ve written in the past about the absolute importance of securing a Certificate of Citizenship, in Certificate of Citizenship, Now More Than Ever; Certificate of Citizenship; Certificate of Citizenship, Again; and A Mother’s Rights.  Please do not delay. ~
